Just near Gordes in Provence, it is difficult to imagine a magical place like this one : Live and Love. Quiet, great views, an intriguing garden full of secrets, partly Mediterranean, partly British...
Be Welcome at Mas des Etoiles in Gordes, Luberon, Provence. This may be a unique experience. This B&B, we say "Chambre d'hotes" in France, is stylish and elegant, still casual and unpretentious.
Annette and I (Francois), we have developed a pleasant joyful atmosphere you will find seldom in the "maison d'hôtes" of France. The property which is recent has been designed by the best architects and landscape designers : Just simply a good taste prevails. With an association between our history and the true values of Provence : Inside refined pieces of furniture, outside lavenders, thyme, rosemarine, olive trees, vineyards and even tasty figs at your doorstep...
Originally from the Northern part of France (Lille), we relocated in Provence 15 years ago. Before, we had fascinating lives : Annette was born in Argentina and had a tri-culture education (South America, Unites States, mostly Boston - and France). On my side I had an international career with mostly exposure to USA and South East Asia. So we explored the world before the time of the Emirates. Our children mostly are on the same path - 15 grand-children.
Mas des Etoiles is a lively place and cultured people like (or love) the place. Our guests are Americans, from Brazil, Australia, Singapore, British, Germans and the whole World.
Our B&B cannot be better located : Luberon Valley and its hill-top villages - Roussillon, Bonnieux, Oppede-le-Vieux ... are just minutes away.. And the discovery of the superb Provence is just there : Aix-en-Provence and Avignon are less than one hour away. The famous " Calanques" de Cassis ( Marseilles) or Arles (Van Gogh) not so much more. We maintain a good list of the best restaurants of Gordes and Luberon. Same for the wineries (Chateauneuf-du-Pape). We help our guests for their daily programs and our proposals add value to their stay.
Here, people come to be quiet and away from their usual pressures. It is not like in these hotels around where the children cannot be under control (We don't receive kids under 12 ). Our guest are the object of all care possible and we "cherish" them. On conviviality, exchanges between guests develop naturally at the time of breakfasts or " sunset aperitifs" Discrete pleasures such as a run in the vineyards before breakfast, adventures while hiking the the nearby Abbaye of Senanque or pedaling in the brisky Mistral wind.
A last point : If you book directly with us, our B&B rate will be 10-15% lower than the one presented on Booking.com and Expedia.

In short, I have no doubt that we will try to return and I hope to bring some more family with us. As background, my wife and I have lived and travelled around the world and I had no prior knowledge of this particular establishment, although I had spent two weeks in Aix many years ago. I do not speak French and we rented a car in Aix. The location was superb: Just a short distance from Gorde, but in a quiet, accessible location (with free parking), it was an ideal base for exploring the wonderful villages and towns of Provence with short day trips. As for the place itself, that was also superb. The house is in the style of an old French country house, but really quite convenient with great living space, fine bathroom/walk-in shower, fantastic garden, and a wonderful outdoor patio area for relaxing and, each morning, partaking of a splendid breakfast. Really ideal. Finally, let me say that the hosts, Francoise and Annette, are charming and gracious, and available and helpful for reservations if desired or just general advice about the area. I know that giving all top marks in every category seems a stretch, but it is not in this case. Book early. All was superb
An authentic experience in the heart of the breathtaking Luberon valley. A lovely, quintessentially provençale property maintained by the gracious, helpful, and knowledgeable hosts, François and Annette. We stayed four nights in our large, clean, comfortable, pretty room, waking every day to sunshine and a bountiful alfresco breakfast of croissants, cheese, and fresh local fruit. That was a good amount of time for us to explore the nearby hill towns, and to take late afternoon dips in the inviting pool—the adjacent honor bar and library of area maps and books, a nice touch. Excellent location for day trips to Avignon/Pont du Gard, Gordes, Roussillon, Ménerbes, L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, wineries, and Sénanque abbey
From the moment we arrived Francois made us feel at home, as he shared his and Annette's lovely home with us. The charming stone built house, lovely air conditioned room and cooling pool, were what we needed having arrived in a heatwave of over 40 degrees! Instead, the warmth was from his welcome, as he shared local knowledge with us, having found out what we wanted to do whilst we were in this lovely part of France. He provided us great routes to drive, advice on lovely hill-top villages to visit, and some great places to eat (his help in pre-booking us a restaurant for our first night, avoided the normal stress of finding somewhere to eat on arrival!) We loved meeting other guests, with the long communal table for evening drinks and breakfast, providing the perfect opportunity to meet others. We find travelling, as much about meeting others, as it is in visiting locations. Accommodation, such as this is always a gem to find if you like sharing experiences with likeminded travellers. The use of the communal fridge and provisions of plates and cutlery was a great bonus. We loved the local markets and it was great to know we could buy produce to take back to Le Mas des Etoiles to eat for lunch. One final piece of advice from us, If you arrive in season, make sure you follow Francois' instructions on how to find the best spot for that perfect Lavender photo, away from the tourists and their cameras. Thanks to the most wonderful hosts for letting us share their home and knowledge in this beautiful corner of France. We will return!
